It was December 27th, 2006 when we got a phone call from a barn I used to ride at, asking if we would buy Colby. If not purchased within two days, Colby would be sent to auction. I had only ridden him three times and met with him five times. I knew he was a sweetheart from the start and would be a good addition to our family. We had a pre-purchase exam done on Colby on December 28th and purchased him on that same day.

Colby coliced less than a year later and had to undergo colic surgery. He stopped breathing at the end of his surgery but miraculously started breathing again. After working very hard all summer, Colby got his mind and heart back into working, and Colby and I were able to attend several shows. He has never loved dressage but has placed very well at the shows he has attended. I decided to compromise with Colby during the summer of 2008 and introduced him into the world of eventing. It was then that I discovered his jumping talent and the best of all is that HE LOVES IT!

Colby moved to Echo Ridge Farm in March 2009 in order to pursue our goals in the eventing world. He LOVES going out with his friends all day long and going on all the lovely barn field trips.

Since living at ERF, Colby has gone on his first beach ride, hunt, and several dressage and event shows! He has not only learned to load onto a trailer safely whilst at ERF… he self loads now too!

Colby has placed 1st and 2nd place at Hilltop Equestrian Center several times, as well as 2nd and 3rd at Green Acres Stables. He has also competed at the Wentworth Hunt Dressage show and placed 1st in Training Level 1, and has got 2 second places for Intro B. He has also placed 11th/26 at Groton House Summer Classic and 6th place at the Groton House Fall Classic for Beginner Novice.
